ShoreTel, Brocade Certified Technician
Caleidoscope Communications is a telecommunications solutions provider. We have opened a job search for a full-time, certified ShoreTel, Brocade (or Cisco) technician.
The role and responsibility of the Technician is to support Caleidoscope’s Senior Systems Engineer and installed base of customers.
Core responsibilities include excellent carrier knowledge and VoIP troubleshooting. Prior experience required in project management of IP PBX systems including ShoreTel and Adtran, as well as Adtran Routers, Brocade products, and ESI Key Systems. ShoreTel experience is a MAJOR PLUS!
Successful Technicians are detail oriented, thrive in a fast-paced atmosphere, love to learn, take instruction well, are good listeners and good communicators and possess excellent documentation skills. The Technician must be a team player. This job requires a demand for following scheduled day-to-day tasks and assignments while employing proven technical practices and procedures. The perfect candidate is comfortable with their knowledge of technical installation basics balanced with excellent people skills.
The Technician will maintain necessary certifications for Caleidoscope's product lines and attend off-site or web enabled product training as requested or required. The Technician assists in the design of customer equipment solutions including participation in pricing and proposals for PBX systems and RFPs. The Technician will meet with customers to propose, install and troubleshoot systems. Customer meetings are limited to reasonable traveling distance from the Burlington office. Mileage and other travel expenses are reimbursed.
The purpose of this role in the Company is to provide quality direct technical support to Caleidoscope customers, the V.P. of Sales, Account Executives, the Senior Systems Engineer and Tech Support Specialist. The work requires building relationships with equipment manufacturers and distributors.
The specific development focus of this role demands continued understanding of Caleidoscope’s equipment products and services, upgrades and patches, technical implementation processes and procedures as they translate into successful installations and meet customer satisfaction metrics. Other key skills to develop will include acquiring a working knowledge of spreadsheet software, database software, local and wide area computer networks, ShoreTel, Adtran IP PBX products, firewalls, routers as well as a working knowledge of competitor’s service offerings.
Key Competencies required include:
In-depth knowledge of telecommunications technologies and hardware to include T-1, POTS, PRI, MPLS
Experience with TDM- based digital PBXs, VoIP Telephony along with knowledge of multiple telephone and data wiring standards
Requires in-depth knowledge of TCP/IP and underlying protocols with emphasis on routing, IP Telephony, LAN and WAN technologies and hardware, SIP, QOS, VLAN and VMware.
Core Function Specific Competencies required:
Experience in the installation and maintenance of IP PBX telephone systems, LANs and WANs, cabling including CAT 3, CAT 6 and Fiber, design and implementation of communications closets, management of communications equipment and networks via on site and remote administration, basic electronics abilities, fundamental certifications in ShoreTel, and/or Adtran PBXs; ESI Key Systems.
Education Requirements:
Technical BA Graduate and/or Shoretel Certified Installer and Shoretel Certified Engineer; Cisco or Brocade certified engineer.
